"When I was dating, Madea made sure I always had a junior chaperone, my sister." Ada
"Madea kept telling me to 'get the devil outta you and do something with your life.' I did them both." Evelyn
"Ma, I love you! As a young girl starting to date, her words to me still rings true today. Never go on a date without money to come home. Don't ever drink from an unattended glass; you can't be sure what was poured into it. Save for a rainy day, it will surely come. You can lead a horse to water; but you can make him drink it." Janice
"I remember those huge sunflowers outside our house. Madea love to plant flowers and food." Tami
"What about Madea's cornbread mush, the salmon cakes on Sunday, the big ol' hulk cakes (pancakes); the blonde wig; and don't forget the boomerang shoe!" Willie
"My mother had a way of explaining her opinions to you; and some how you knew exactly what she was saying to you. Let the door knob hit you, where the good lord split you. Yeah!" Janice
"There are so many good and loving memories of Madea, from the fishing trips, bowling trips, skating and don't forget her three wheeled bike. Me, Marcus, Margo, Petey and Tammy rode it more than she did. :) Man, ol' girl was something else, one in a hundred million!!! Willie
"I remember one time Madea brought Marcus these ugly pilgram elf shoes to wear to church & by the time we made it to the church they had to use the jaws of life to get his swollen feet out the shoes." lol* rotf* Tami
"I remember her ol' time hymns - "Walk with me Lord, Please walk with me" and "Plant my feet on higher ground" Willie
"Once my grandmother stated you will steal sweeten out a ginger bread cake and won't break the crust!" Marcus
"Grandma once asked me to get her a chicken dinner. While i made excuses, she added that 'I kept you alive' and continue with her order. When I returned to her, with her meal, I also slipped her a 20." Marcus
"I loved spending the summer at Grandma's house. She would let me sell the icees and I could eat as many as I wanted. At the end of the day, she reminded me that I had to give up the money because it belonged to the church." Rayvohn
"Grandma and I were having a bible discussion. She said the scripture meant one thing, I said another. She reminded me that it did not matter how much education that I had, she knew the bible. In my big bad boldness, I replied.......'Yes, Grandma'. I said bold, not crazy." Margie
"I remember having a date at the house and Madea stopped by. We were in the living room and she went in the kitchen. After a while she spoke loudly and said, "it's after 7 o'clock, anyone who don't live here shouldn't be here. My date left with a swiftness." Tiajuania
"Save your money cause one day you may need it to save your butt" - Things Madea Taught Me!! Tricey
"I remember running for Ms. New Life 2 years in a row (only had real competition once) and Madea made some ices for me to sell on the west side and she was
selling them on the east side. I think I ate more than I sold and them ices, with her secret ingredient, went like hot cakes. Of course I won the crown even with competition." Margo
"When I was 17 grandma gave me my first car, that was when I knew I had the best grandma in the world." Marvin
"My memory of grandma was when i was younger and she used to babysit me. When her friends came she would introduce me and be like this my grandbaby and i would just sit smiling and eating my peanut butter crackers." Luv Kellie
"My memory of grandma is when she used to babysit me when I was really little and I would be with her on her scooter and we would be riding down park ave so fast I seen my dad once and he started panicking and honking the horn of his car bugging out." Angela
"As a youngster grandma had me in training and I didn't even know it. Long walks from Keyfoods that was my endurance training. Quick exits out the back door was for speed. Stopping at the store and getting candy then still having enough money to put in church was my finance lesson. And fishing from the train tressel while trains were passing was my lesson in overcoming my fears. Its my grandma who gave me my don't quit attitude." Petey
"There was this one time when grandma thought my hair was so nappy and was tired of looking at it stand up on my head so she took me to Long Beach Chemist and put so many rubber bands in my head it was unbelievable my parents were so mad they didn't know what to do." Angela
"I would visit grandma after school every day during my freshman year in high school and she would send me to the store to get her some green teas. One time in the summer I wore some short shorts to her house and she was about to send me to the store and she looked at what i was wearing and was like "Angela where do you think your going with those daisy dukes on?" & I said "to the store for you like you asked." then she said oh not, not today; maybe another day when you wear something passed your knee then I'll send you!." Love, Angela
"All I could do when she called me her 'Jimmie the cricket', was smile. Even though I am a grown man, Grandma could call me whatever she wanted to." Jimmie
"I loved it when i got to go over and hang out with Grandma. She used to give me money and toys. She also she gave me other memories that will last a life time I love her with all my heart. Rest in peace." Terrence
